Car Rental at Merida Airport (MID): How Pickup Works
Car Rental at Merida Airport (MID): How Pickup Works
Airport or downtown, what to bring and what to check before you drive off. A short guide for your arrival.
Arriving at Merida's airport (MID) with a rental car already booked saves you the first hour of your trip. Here is how our airport service works, how it compares with picking up downtown, and what to expect on your first drive in the city.
Airport pickup or downtown pickup?
Both are served by the same office, so the car and the price are the same. What changes is where you meet us.
- Airport pickup. Best if you arrive with luggage or after a long flight. A representative with an EasyWay sign meets you at the airport meeting point and drives you to the office for free.
- Downtown pickup. Best if you spend your first night in the historic center and want the car only from the next morning. The office is at Calle 60 #484, facing Parque Santa Lucía, open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Many visitors skip the car for their first night in the center, where everything is walkable, and pick it up downtown the next day to drive to Uxmal, Izamal or the coast. The only difference is the pickup place you select when you search.
Before you land: a short checklist
- Book online and enter your flight number and arrival time.
- Have your driver's license, passport or ID and a credit card in the driver's name ready for the deposit.
- If you land after 10:00 PM or before 8:00 AM, write to merida@easywayrentacar.com or call +52 999 930 9500 first.
- Decide who will drive: extra drivers can be added to the reservation.
What to check when you receive the car
- Walk around the car with our agent and make sure existing marks are noted on the contract.
- Check the air conditioning, the spare tire and the fuel level.
- Ask for the roadside assistance number, which works 24 hours a day.
- Confirm the return place and time, and the one-way fee if you return in another city.
Your first drive
The airport is about 15 minutes from the center. Streets downtown are one way and numbered, parking is limited and most lots close at night, so if your hotel has no parking, ask the front desk which lot they recommend. For day trips outside the city, fuel up before the Ruta Puuc and carry pesos for the toll roads.
Leaving Merida for Cancun
You can pick up in Merida and drop the car in Cancun. The drive is about 300 km on the 180D toll road, roughly 3.5 to 4 hours. A fixed one-way fee applies by vehicle category, and you see it before you book.
